Gingerbread & Tea – A Food and Drink Themed Tour of Mayfair
Known for its exclusive hotels such as Claridge’s, Brown’s and the Connaught (see picture left) Mayfair has always been the place to visit for afternoon tea. Hear how this tradition came about together with the surprising histories of some of the world’s most famous hotels. You will also hear about the Georgians’ passion for ice cream, the binge eating composer and the famous gingerbread seller Tiddy Doll.
It’s not all about history though as I will show you some of the hidden cafes, cocktail bars and shops of the area including a famous auction house that serves a very reasonably priced afternoon tea and one of the best wine shops in London.
This walk starts and finishes near Green Park tube and lasts approximately 90 minutes (without pub or shop stops).
