London Walking Tours    with Joanna Moncrieff

Scandals and Secrets

A walk discovering some of the West End’s scandals and secrets.

It’s surprising what you can discover in the vicinity of Europe’s busiest shopping street. This walk around the back streets of W1 includes hearing tales of the courtroom, discovering which theatre was built on top of a wine cellar (and the hidden bar within) and a building with a surprising interior. You will also hear about the sculptor who didn’t believe in trousers (or underwear) the quack who used turpentine, acetic acid and egg yolk in his treatments and a woman who was the talk of London because of her numerous affairs which included at least 3 kings and 2 princes.

The walk starts and finishes close to Oxford Circus tube station and lasts approximately 1 hour, 30 mins.

Contact me for availability and cost. All walks can be adapted to start and finish at a venue of choice in the immediate area.
