FREE Walks – Local London Guiding Day 2013

by | Oct 2, 2013 | 11 comments

It’s that time of the year again when the local London guiding associations get together for a day of free walks. This year’s theme is Scandals, Secrets and Suspense!

On Saturday 12th October City of Westminster, Clerkenwell, City of London and Greenwich Guides will be leading hour long walks every hour from 10am to 4pm. There’s no need to book, just turn up!  The walks are free but we will be collecting for Help for Heroes at the end of the walk.

Why not get up early and try to complete all 4 walks!  If you do you could win a place on one of our weekly walks – see the back of the flyer below.  All associations offer weekly repeating walks details of which can be found on their respective websites.

I’m leading the 3pm Westminster walk. Maybe see you there!

The author of this blog (Joanna Moncrieff) is a qualified City of Westminster Tour Guide who specialises in food and drink themed walks in the West End.  Details of all her bookable private walks are listed here and upcoming public walks are here.

could we have a bit more info about where the walks finish? If we start at Bank does that walk finish at Barbican? Thats what the map implies, but it doesnt say whats covered on the walks/where you finish. thanks!

I'll find out and post on here shortly. With regard to the Westminster walk it starts at Argyll Street and finishes at Cavendish Square just around the corner the nearest tube at the beginning and end being Oxford Circus.

I've now got the details for the finish points of the City & Clerkenwell walks. I'm still awaiting Greenwich.

The City walk is circular – it begins and ends at Bank/Royal Exchange

Clerkenwell is more or less circular beginning at Barbican and ending very close by.

As mentioned above Westminster is more or less circular.

Greenwich details to follow when I hear from them.

No info on the other sites about where they actually meet etc or indeed that this event is actually happening..

The walks are all definitely happening and meeting details are as per the leaflet posted above. I've passed your comments on to the respective associations re their websites.

FYI I'm assuming you are the same person with the query earlier. The Greenwich walk is also circular.

Hello Joanna. Thanks or answering my original question. The second question (15:12) was someone else. Steven.

Hi Yael, the Clerkenwell walk meets outside Barbican Station. There is only one exit.
